C.H.C.'s mission is to preserve the essence of Classic Golden-Era Chicago House, Acid House and Hip-House. Only those who lived in Chicago in the 1980's can truly understand this essence. Attempts to capture the Golden-Era sound of Chicago in compilations or recordings can never fully convey the larger context of Chicago culture, DJs and radio stations of the time. House was originally created by DJ's – not producers or labels. Those who weren't there at the start might think that labels such as Trax or DJ International played a big part in creating Chicago House, but in reality they were only a very small part later on. It should also be clarified that while Frankie Knuckles was the Godfather of House, Farley JackMaster Funk is the Godfather of Chicago House, and incidentally, Tony Humphries is the Godfather of Deep House. Also worth clarifying is that the term Classic Chicago House refers to House of the type that was played in Chicago, but not necessarily made there. It has global origins, and is not just a localized clique or easily compartmentalized style. Disco, Funk, Electro, Italo, 80's, Techno and Industrial can sometimes become House if used in the right way. Many compilations or reissues focus on music produced in Chicago but in reality Golden-Era Chicago House was produced all over the world, not just Chicago.

The Golden-Era of Chicago House (1985~1986) was a time when there were no preconceptions about House. Hard-working professional DJ/producers put in major time and effort to track down the most innovative songs, tracks, breaks, dubs, B-sides, etc., regardless of genre/style, and mix them together in a way that had never been done before, often doing their own edits, entirely new versions, and mastering as needed to give a consistent and well-integrated sound. The Golden Era was a time of pure innovation – not cliques, copycats, commercialization, categorization, and other distractions that are the norm today.

Chicago radio stations such as WBMX and WGCI tripled their listenership during the Golden-Era with 10K's tuning into the Friday and Saturday night mix shows. House made you dance, was far more than just "a style", appealed to everyone, and as a result became a global sensation. The role of the radio stations was crucial not only in broadcasting the music but as a quality-control layer with their local radio market expertise, audio expertise and broadcast mastering processors eg. the Orban Optimod series, which is also used in the C.H.C. studio.

Although many Golden-Era tracks were innovative, highly musical, uplifting and timeless, they were also sometimes low-budget and may have had subpar production, mastering and DJ-friendliness, and may have disappeared into obscurity never being released digitally or on a major label. C.H.C.'s mission is to not only preserve the essence of Golden-Era House but to enhance and extend it when necessary, and to serve as a source for the highest-quality versions of the music that defined Classic Chicago House.
